What should I bring?
Swim suit, goggles (even if they don't care for goggles), cap or hair tie (if hair is long), towel. Children under 2.5 years old or not 100% potty trained are required to wear 2 swim diapers. They need a reusable swim diaper first and a Happy Nappy over that.
Do you offer make-up lessons and when would they take place?
Yes, as long as we receive notice 24 hours prior to the lesson you need to change. The make-up lesson will occur based off of availability for that current month. We will do our best to schedule a time that works for you but cannot guarantee it.
What is the best place to be during my child’s lesson?
Out of the child’s eye sight. We have found that most children tend to be a little more focused when their parents are not in eye sight. However, there are circumstances the instructor may ask you to sit nearby if the child isn’t able to calm down. We do ask that you stay on the premises during the lesson in case of emergency.
What are some ways I can prepare my child before beginning lessons?
The best way to prepare your child for the water is in the bath tub. Start by showing them how to blow bubbles and splash around. Pour water over their heads so they get used to water in their face and ears. The more comfortable a child is with water to start, the better they will adapt to lessons.
How long will it take for my child to be water safe?
Every child’s timeline is different and repetition is key. The more frequent and consistent a child is with their lessons, the quicker they will pick up the skills necessary for independency.
Can I leave to run an errand while my child is in a lesson?
We require parents/guardians of the child must stay on the Riverhouse Lodge premises during a lesson in case of emergency.

In the ‘Classes’ section under the ‘About’ tab you can see a description of what each class entails and what they need to have accomplished before moving into that class. If you are still unsure with which class to sign up for, send us an email and we can help with the selection process.
